Swvl is gearing up for a major push into the United States market following a fresh injection of capital totaling 13 million dollars. The funding comes via a private placement led by U.S. based Coefficient LP, which is investing 10 million dollars and becoming the company’s largest institutional shareholder. An additional 3 million dollars was provided by an existing investor to round out the deal. As part of the arrangement, Coefficient founder Abdalla Ali will join Swvl’s board of directors, signaling a strategic alignment as the firm looks to scale its operations globally.

Beyond its geographic expansion, Swvl intends to use these funds to diversify its business model by launching a new lending service specifically designed for its transport partners. By providing loans to operators, the company hopes to stabilize its supply chain and foster deeper loyalty among the drivers who power its platform. These initiatives come at a time when Swvl is aggressively strengthening its balance sheet to ensure long term sustainability across its various markets.

The timing of this investment coincides with strong financial performance reported for the first quarter of 2026. Swvl saw its revenue climb 68 percent year over year to reach 8.2 million dollars, with particularly explosive growth in the Gulf Cooperation Council region where revenues jumped 111 percent. The company has successfully shifted toward more predictable income streams, noting that recurring revenue now makes up nearly 88 percent of its total earnings while operating expenses have been trimmed down to just 23 percent of revenue.

Investors reacted enthusiastically to the news, sending shares surging as the company edges closer to operating breakeven. While some analysts pointed out that issuing nearly nine million new shares could lead to dilution for current stockholders, the overall sentiment remains bullish due to high net dollar retention rates and a clear roadmap for growth. With a reinforced treasury and a foothold in North America, Swvl appears positioned to transition from a regional player into a global logistics contender.
