The landscape of middle Georgia is set for a massive transformation as Audi AG prepares to launch its first ever United States manufacturing operation. In a joint announcement on Saturday, Governor Brian Kemp and Audi CEO Gernot Döllner revealed plans for a four billion dollar investment centered at the Middle Georgia Megasite. This ambitious project is expected to breathe new life into Peach County and the surrounding regions, promising the creation of approximately 4,500 new jobs for local residents.

The sprawling facility will specifically target the North American market by producing SUVs, with goals to roll off 200,000 vehicles annually once fully operational. While the excitement is high, the road to production will take several years. Groundwork and site grading are slated to begin in 2027, followed by actual construction in 2028. If everything stays on track, Georgians can expect to see those luxury SUVs rolling off the assembly lines by 2031.

To ensure there is a skilled workforce ready for these high tech roles, the state is launching a comprehensive education push via Georgia Quick Start. By partnering with the Technical College System of Georgia, officials plan to develop a specialized curriculum and build a dedicated training center focused on advanced manufacturing and maintenance. Governor Kemp noted that recent strategic investments in regional infrastructure were key to attracting such a high caliber manufacturer to this specific part of the state.

While political figures like Donald Trump attributed the move to trade pressures and tariffs on European imports, Audi executives highlighted Georgia’s logistical advantages and welcoming business climate as primary drivers. Despite the scale of the deal, some details remain under wraps; officials have not yet disclosed the specifics of tax incentives or exact wage brackets for new hires. Nevertheless, economic leaders view this as a generational win that will allow families in middle Georgia to find stable, lucrative careers without leaving their hometowns.
