Critical Metals was the top trending ticker on Yahoo Finance on Monday morning, and the reason is geography. The company’s main asset, the Tanbreez rare earth project in southern Greenland, holds what 24/7 Wall St. describes as the only exploitation permit for rare earths on the island. When Trump announced over the weekend that the United States, Denmark and Greenland had agreed a no-expiry security pact, the market bought the one listed company with a permitted Greenland rare earth deposit first and asked questions later. Greenland Energy (GLND) and Greenland Mines (GRML) moved even harder: TipRanks put their pre-market gains at around 160% and 75%.

What the Greenland security deal actually says

According to NPR and Euronews, it gives the United States an expanded military presence in Greenland, with permanent access, basing and overflight rights, while Greenland stays under Danish sovereignty. Seeking Alpha and Stocktwits reported that it bars non-NATO countries from setting up bases and lets Washington block adversaries from making “sensitive investments” on the island. Copenhagen welcomed it cautiously. Why CRML moved and the other rare earth names barely did

The size of each move matched how much Greenland exposure each company has. GLND and GRML are smaller and earlier-stage, and they moved the most. It needs Tanbreez to keep moving through its checkpoints: shareholders approve the European Lithium merger on 22 October, the feasibility study arrives on time at the end of the year, and the refinery study becomes a financing plan. If that happens, the pact becomes a reason why Western buyers and US agencies would want to fund a Greenland rare earth supply chain. Even at $15.33 the stock would still be more than 50% below its 52-week high of $32.15, so this is a partial recovery, not a new high.

The $6.73 bear case: -21.3% below spot

The bear case is simple: the market reads the deal more carefully. The text is unpublished, it creates no new permit, and it brings no capital. A pre-revenue developer with a current ratio of 0.75 (GuruFocus) will probably need to raise money before any refinery gets built, and a stock that has just jumped 27% is an obvious place to sell new shares. A full gap fill takes CRML back to $6.73. If feasibility or merger timelines slip, the 52-week low of $5.12 is the next level.
